As 2025 draws to a close, we are pleased to present the final quarterly report of the year for our Testnet node, Casper Staking. Building on our experience operating validator nodes on Mainnet, we remain dedicated to actively supporting the Casper blockchain during its testing and development phases.

This Q4 report details our performance, operational updates, and the lessons learned as we wrap up the year.

Node Performance

This quarter was characterized by exceptional stability and consistent performance. Below is the technical breakdown of our node’s activity from October through December.

  • Uptime: 100%

  • Blocks Produced: 6,608

  • First block of the quarter: #5,686,500 (Era 19499 — Oct 1, 2025, 12:14:41 AM GMT+2)

  • Last block of the quarter: #6,400,712 (Era 20604 — Dec 31, 2025, 11:41:00 PM GMT+1)

  • Validator Weight: 10,135,060.82 CSPR

  • Staking Rewards (Testnet): ~ 7,609.36 CSPR (accumulated over 1,106 eras).

Performance Summary Table

Metric Value
Uptime 100%
Blocks Produced 6,608
Validator Weight (Average) 10,135,060 CSPR
Total Rewards (Testnet) ~ 7,609 CSPR

Operational Updates

We maintain a rigorous maintenance schedule to ensure our node remains in sync with the latest network developments.

  • Software Updates: The most significant event this quarter was the upgrade to Casper node version 2.1.1. This successful migration occurred at Era 20275. We ensured a smooth transition with zero downtime during the protocol upgrade.

  • Hardware & Configuration: We have maintained our existing hardware configuration, as it continues to perform optimally. No changes were made to the server specs or the base configuration files.

  • Monitoring: Our monitoring strategy remains unchanged. We utilize a hybrid approach combining automated alerts (via Era Guardian) with regular manual health checks to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.

Hardware Specifications and Economics

We continue to rely on Hetzner for our infrastructure, as their performance-to-cost ratio remains unbeatable for this specific use case.

  • Processor (CPU): AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600 (6 cores / 12 threads @ 3.6 GHz)

  • Memory (RAM): 64 GB DDR4

  • Storage: 2 x 512 GB NVMe SSD

  • Provider: Hetzner

  • Monthly Cost: €44.76

Economic Viability Analysis (Testnet): For Q4 2025, the accumulated rewards were approximately 7,609 CSPR.
  • Valuation: At a theoretical price of $0.005 USD/CSPR, this represents approximately $38.05 USD.

  • Cost: The total server cost for the quarter was €134.28.

Note: As always, Testnet rewards are fictitious tokens and do not have real monetary value. This analysis serves purely to track the hypothetical economics of running a node under these network conditions.

Lessons Learned

Stability is Key The defining theme of this quarter was « smooth sailing. » We encountered no technical challenges, bugs, or network forks. This stability allowed us to focus on observation rather than firefighting. Key Innovations: Burning & Liquid Staking This quarter was particularly exciting due to the introduction of critical features on the Testnet.
  • Burning Function Implementation: Witnessing the activation and successful execution of the transaction fee burning mechanism was the technical highlight of the quarter. Seeing this deflationary model in action is a major milestone.

  • Liquid Staking Tests: We also closely followed and participated in the Liquid Staking tests. Observing how this mechanism unlocks liquidity while securing the network is very promising for the future of DeFi on Casper.

Best Practices We continue to adhere to the philosophy that « if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. » By maintaining a stable environment and only intervening for necessary upgrades, we achieved 100% uptime.

Community Contributions

Our engagement this quarter focused on being a reliable presence in the ecosystem.

  • Communication: We remained active in the official Testnet Telegram group, participating in technical discussions, particularly regarding the new burning updates.

  • Content Creation: The drafting of these detailed quarterly reports, which provide transparency and historical data for other operators and the community.

Conclusion

The fourth quarter of 2025 concludes on a high note for Casper Staking. With 100% uptime, a flawless upgrade to version 2.1.1, and consistent block production (6,608 blocks), our node has proven its reliability.

Directly observing the implementation of fee burning and the liquid staking tests has reinforced our confidence in the protocol’s technical evolution. We remain committed to supporting the Testnet in 2026, ensuring that these upcoming features are tested on robust infrastructure.
